Another EP emerges, soaked in warm nostalgia, a tale of romance in Los Angeles. NightLife starts out with a pair of uptempo outrun tracks - "'84 Crush", my favorite, and the slightly softer "Searching to Find You" - before adopting smoother arrangements that tend toward funk and jazz, best exemplified in "Moonlighting Strangers" with its 6/8 beat and soulful synth leads. For those looking for something a bit darker, there's "Neoworld"'s nighttime stroll and carefully-woven guitar / synth leads. kmxexii

This guy makes smooth synthwave seem soooo easy. He's so prolific, it's hard to know where to start, but this older release is pay-what-you-want so knock yourself out. I'd head to Coast or Only the Reckless after this, but his newer stuff is great, too. Jean-Paul DuQuette
